Cheers Ring Out For Titanic Brewery’s Seasonal Ales Award

Stoke-on-Trent based Titanic Brewery was today toasting a prestigious award for its innovative work with a major supermarket group.

Titanic won brewing industry recognition for the launch of Morrisons’ seasonal beers range.

The Burslem based brewery worked with Morrisons to provide a special range of ales for Morrisons.

The popular range includes a chestnut beer for winter, Summer Fruits and the autumnal Green Hops.

The award, in the Best Support for an Off Trade Customer, came at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) business awards.

Titanic Director, Dave Bott, said: “We are delighted that our work with Morrisons has been recognised especially as the award comes from our colleagues in the brewing industry.

“The partnership was a major departure for the brewery as it is the first time we had brewed a beer to be sold under the supermarket’s own label brand.

“The success of Morrison’s seasonal range shows that good ideas will flourish even at a time when the UK and our industry is suffering due to the worldwide recession.”

Pete Brown, beer writer and SIBA awards judge, commented, “Titanic Brewery, and the other local brewers here tonight, are living proof that success can be achieved without a large chequebook. What came through very clearly in all the awards entries was the creativity and resourcefulness that local brewers are using to develop their business. With talent and determination like this driving our local brewing sector, it’s no wonder that it is enjoying growth while the overall beer market is in decline.”

The SIBA Brewing Business Awards, now in their fourth year, celebrate the business development skills and entrepreneurial flair of SIBA members. At the Awards presentation, 16 brewers were recognised for their achievements in areas such as customer service, marketing, innovation and, in a category introduced this year, environmental endeavour. This is the second success for the Burslem brewery in recent months. Titanic Stout took the best beer in a bottle award at the 2009 Great British Beer Festival.
