The independent Burslem brewery is to supply four bottled beers to Tesco. The beers will be available to shoppers at 43 stores in the Midlands region, which includes Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire and the West Midlands, from April 28, 2008 through Tesco’s recently introduced local sourcing initiative which aims to support local businesses, increase customer choice and reduce ‘food-miles’ - the carbon footprint associated with food transportation. Keith Bott, Managing Director of the award winning brewery, said: “Winning a contract with Tesco is a great boost to our team at Titanic. Our beers have for a long time been available in many pubs across the country including the J D Wetherspoon estate, but this will give those who enjoy drinking at home the opportunity to try our fantastic wares. The labels on our bottles which say “Shipped from the Potteries” are distinctive and tell people where we come from. I believe this deal is not only good for Titanic but will promote our pride in the Potteries to millions of Tesco customers.” Tesco will stock all four of Titanic’s award winning bottled beers. These are Iceberg, White Star, Captain Smith’s and Stout – which was named Britain’s champion bottled beer in 2004 and has been a medal winner for four consecutive years.
