Titanic Tussle – Which Pub Has The Best Beer Festival?

Two pubs owned by award winning Titanic Brewery will go head to head in a bank holiday beer battle.

From left to right, Pam Rowlands, Dave Bott and Bob Crumpton August Bank Holiday weekend beer festivals are being held at the Bulls Head, Burslem, and the White Star, Stoke – just four miles apart.

Titanic Brewery Director Dave Bott said licensees Bob Crumpton and Pam Rowlands had independently hit on the same dates for the events.

“The timings are a coincidence,” said Dave. “Our initial reaction was that someone would have to change their dates but then we thought why not run with both?

“Our customers are generally real ale enthusiast and they will relish the chance to visit different venues to sample the wide variety of beer on offer.”

Bulls Head landlord Bob commented: “There have been beer festivals at the Bulls Head but we haven’t held one for several years. Our theme is champion beers and will feature award winning ales from the Great British Beer Festival over recent years.”

Pam added: “All four Titanic licensees work together to promote the brand and Bob and I regularly swap ideas. But there will certainly be a friendly rivalry to host the best festival so it promises to be a great weekend.”

Both pubs will have around 20 beers on sale, including five of Titanic’s award winning real ales, and will feature performances from local musicians. The White Star event runs from Friday, 28 August until Monday, 31 August, while the Bulls Head festival runs from Friday until Sunday.

Dave Bott said that the brewery was equipped to provide a full service to any pub, club or village hall looking to host a festival.

“We can provide an unparalleled range of beers from around the country, and set venues up with all the necessary equipment such as racking, cooling, chocks and taps,” he explained.
